The Bare-legged Owl is endemic to the island of Cuba only. This small cavity nesting owl has a similar appearance to the Burrowing Owl, such as a rounded head and showing no signs of ear tufts. They sometimes make their homes in palm trees, taking over holes carved out by woodpeckers.
