The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is the only hummingbird seen regularly on the eastern side of the North America continent. The Black-chinned Hummingbird, which is a western species, is very similar to the Ruby-throated Hummingbird. Therefore, close observation is needed when seeing these two hummingbirds in the central regions of North America. These hummingbirds have been reported seen on the island of Cuba.
